DIY: Cupcake Stands

It doesn’t mean that I’m not going to get said things (hehe,) it just means that I have to get creative and hunt at Goodwill and garage sales and who knows, dare I say, make it?

Needed:

Old candlesticks
Superglue
Old plate (I got mine from Goodwill)
Spray Paint - (I had this on hand from an earlier project)  I used Kryon Nickle finish but you can use any color at all.

These are the super duper anyone can do them,  easy peasy directions.

First find your candlesticks, I got mine from Goodwill.  You know all of those super cheap brass candlesticks they always have. Yup, that’s what I got.  I really liked the shape of this candlestick and knew once painted it would be so cute. 

Spray paint the candlestick. I generally spray paint two coats (make sure to get underneath the rim,) let dry.

Once your paint has dried rim the top of the candlestick with superglue and attach your plate.  Honestly, the hardest part of this project is finding plates that you love and determining what color you are going to paint the candlesticks.

One thing that I ask myself when I am painting something is “will I use this again?”  If the answer is yes, I will generally spray paint a neutral color (white, black, nickle etc.)  However, these are so easy and super cheap to make that this is a project you can have a lot of fun.  You can paint them red, white and blue for the 4th of July or baby pink and/or blue for a baby shower, or red and green for Christmas and instead of a small plate put a dinner plate on the candlestick and add some of your yummy homemade cookies for a super fabulous gift any one would love!
