garland is not your grandmother’s tree decor

By Elsie Flannigan on 1.22.2010

garland is not your grandmother’s tree decor

This is a simple and fun project. Garland makes a great gift and can be used for holidays, baby showers and every day decor.

First you need to crochet your circles. If you’ve never made a crocheted circles here is a quick tutorial.

You can experiment with different quantities and size of circles to create different circles.

I’ve been making them for several months, so I had a big bowl of them to choose from. It’s a great way to use extra yarn and it’s a fun activity for movie watching or long car rides.

Then use a tapestry needle to string a piece of yarn though them to create a pretty garland for your tree or wall.

If you use a color scheme like all pink or all white it can last past the Christmas season and on through the winter, Valentine’s, spring or for showers and celebrations.

i am in the process of making one in neutral shades for my mantle that is being completely restructured.  i can’t wait to see the finished mantle and tile w/ my garland.  i’ll take a pic.  i want it up year round.  i think it’ll be really beachy!  thanks, elsie.
