It’s an old southern tradition with many facets and variations, from fellowship at church, helping a friend who is ill, just had a baby or is just plum tuckered out and needs a night off. 

The covered dish is a great way to help strengthen ties with your family, friends and neighbors

We work hard to teach our children to help others and even go to great lengths to show them that giving is fun.  Something happens as we get older though, and we start to feel as if we can’t help because we weren’t asked.  We don’t want to overstep ourselves and make someone feel uncomfortable and that’s truly sad.  It’s time for us to re-engage with our family, friends and neighbors and show them that we are thinking of them and here to help whenever needed.

So come along,  take up the spoon and stir along with us, who knows maybe one day you yourself will be the recipient of the covered dish.
