probiotics for kids
A new study supports the use of probiotics, specifically the strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, in reducing cold and flu-like symptoms in children.

A group of 325 children, ages three to five years old, were given the single L. Acidophilus NCFM strain, the combination of the strains or a placebo for six months.
Researchers not only noted reduction in the incidence of cold and flu-like symptoms (fever, coughing and runny noses), but also a decreased need for the use of antibiotics. This is great Emily! My daughter is adopted and we have had her on the powder probiotics (found in the refrigerated section at places like Native Sun) since she was 2 weeks old (1/8 teas each night in her juice) and I am a huge believer in the fact that she has NEVER been sick other than a few minor sniffles here or there and one fever for teething.
