When calcium-deficient women took a supplement, they lost FOUR times more weight than those who didn’t take the extra calcium. Researchers believe the brain compensates for a calcium shortage by initiating hunger to encourage eating food rich in the mineral. Since most women do not get the calcium they need from their diet, it’s important to consider taking a supplement (Prevention, October 2009).
Metabolism Booster? Vinegar!
The primary substance that gives ordinary vinegar its sour taste and strong odor may fight fat, suggests new research presented at a recent meeting of the Japanese Society of Nutrition and Food Science. In a study of 175 overweight Japanese men and women, those who consumed a drink containing either 1 or 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily for 12 weeks had a significantly lower body weight, BMI, visceral fat, and waist circumference than the control group that didn’t consume any vinegar. Researchers credit vinegar’s acetic acid, which may switch on genes that pump out proteins that break down fat (Prevention, October 2009).
In addition, low levels of Vitamin D, found in nearly 80% of American adults, can cause a rise in blood pressure and increased arterial inflammation (Prevention, October 2009). If you want to protect your heart, get 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight per day (without sunblock) or take a Vitamin D supplement.
Why is isotonic delivery important? Isotonic, which means “same pressure,” bears the same chemical resemblance of the body’s blood, plasma and tears. Isotonix dietary supplements are delivered in an isotonic liquid solution. This means that the body has less work to do in obtaining maximum absorption. The isotonic state of the suspension allows nutrients to pass directly into the small intestine and be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. With Isotonix products, little nutritive value is lost, making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient while delivering maximum results. Standard tablets, capsules or soft-gels take much longer to dissolve and this leads to minimal absorption and diluted nutrients.
