Weekend Wellness: Digestion Protection

Weekend Wellness: Digestion Protection

Few people notice their digestive system until there is an apparent problem, such as gas or irregularity.

These occurrences often place the spotlight on proper colon health and digestive system maintenance.

Modern lifestyles, with diets high in both fat and calories, are not conducive to good colon health. Over a period of time, a diet lacking in nutrients and fiber can cause undigested food to slow down its transit time in the colon. Also, this leftover residue can lead to occasional constipation. Many individuals don’t know that about 75 percent of the body’s immune cells reside in the digestive tract. Therefore, paying attention to the maintenance of colon health helps support the overall well-being of the digestive system, which in turn is essential in keeping you and your family healthy.

Here are some dietary supplements that we use for a double portion of digestion protection.

nutricleanThe NutriClean 7-Day Cleaning System—a colon and liver cleansing system—uses exceptional herbs and botanicals to detoxify, cleanse and purify the digestive tract and liver. This innovative three-step process only requires a week to cleanse your digestive system and mildly purge the body of potential or accumulated toxins. The NutriClean System should be used twice a year for optimal digestive, liver and colon health. There are three components to the NutriClean system, which work in tandem to provide a cleansing, rejuvenating effect and maintain proper digestive health to promote maximum performance of each of these vital systems. Matt and I use the NutriClean 7-Day Cleansing System seasonally.

Ultimate Aloe Juice contains over 200 nutrients including enzymes, vitamins and essential minerals needed for good nutrition. Studies have shown that aloe consumed orally promotes normal digestion and supports a healthy immune system. Our family uses Ultimate Aloe Juice occasionally; we take several capfuls a day when we are sick.

Enzymes are important for the body’s proper absorption and utilization of food. Over time, the body’s ability to make certain enzymes reduces as a part of the natural aging process. Many scientists now believe that maintaining normal levels of key enzymes is important to maintaining overall health. Enzymes are responsible for every activity of life. Digestive and metabolic are the two primary classifications of enzymes within the body. In today’s world of processed and fast foods, the body must work harder to break down food and absorb the nutrients. Poor eating habits, such as improper or inadequate chewing and eating on the run, contribute to reduced levels of digestive enzymes. In addition to a reduction in essential enzymes, poor eating habits, some medications and illness deplete the body’s probiotics, which are necessary for maintaing a healthy digestive tract and promoting a healthy immune system.
