It’s the place that you go to at the end of a long day to unwind and relax. If your master bedroom is the “catch-all” of your house it’s time to organize and get your peace back.
A place for everything and everything in it’s place
-If it doesn’t belong in your bedroom get it out. Nothing is worse than waking up first thing in the morning and “seeing” all the things that you didn’t do the day before (such as that pile of laundry that you didn’t put away.)
-If you don’t use it, want it or need it, get rid of it. If you don’t have time for a garage sale, donate your items to your church, donation center or give it to family and friends. Remember one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
-Clean out your closets and dresser drawers. Nothing makes me sadder than looking at clothes I can’t wear or quite honestly should never wear again -haha
Once you’ve got your room just how you want it’s time for some simple maintenance
-Make your bed every morning. Everyone likes to crawl into a made up bed at the end of the day. Peeling back the covers to nice cool sheets and snuggling down just screams relaxation.
If you don’t sleep under the flat sheet, don’t put it on your bed.
-Wash your sheets and covers once a week.
-Flip your mattress once a month. Some will tell you that you can wait 6 mo or longer to flip but I’ve found that by flipping once a month we are able to extend the life of our mattress. You will want to flip so that the top is now the bottom and then turn it so that the foot of the mattress is now the head.
-If your like me and you like to read at night keep a basket next to your bed as the catch all and clean it out at the end of the week. I do mine the same time I am washing my sheets.
Your bedroom is your haven, more so than any other room in your house. Take the time to create your own perfect personal space, you’ll sleep and feel better throughout the day.
This article was just the reminder I needed. My bedroom is always the dumping ground for mis-matched items and loads of laundry. This week I vow to clean it up!
Thanks for the great inspiration!
