For those of you who don’t like to cook or wouldn’t be caught dead in front of the stove, for fear of fire or safety, this recipe is a chance for you to safely exercise your creativity in the kitchen. Oh, and I forgot to mention, these power bars are really, really, really good for you. No sugar added. You’ll get a major energy boost and stay regular!
The Recipe:
* 20 ounces of peanut butter (We buy Organic Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter Creamy—there is no added sugar!)
* 40 ounces of honey
* 4 cups of oats
* 1/2 cup of milled flax seed
* 4 cups of raisins, dried cranberries, banana chips, chocolate chips, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, cashews, etc. (Money Saver: Purchase a trail mix!)
In a large sauce pan, combine honey and peanut butter over medium heat until melted and well blended. Stir constantly. In a mixing bowl, combine oats, milled flax seed and trail mix. When honey and peanut butter is thoroughly melted, add contents of the mixing bowl and stir vigorously. Scoop mixture into two 9"x13” trays and spread evenly. Refrigerate until cool.
Yield: Two 9"x13” trays. Approximately one inch thick.
Too bad they contain peanut butter and nuts, my son is allergic. But I will try to look for similar recipe. Thanks for sharing!
