Trying to find a new way to jazz up your lunches, then maybe it’s time to Bento.
Bento is the coolest “new” way to pack your lunch. Bento lunches are proportionally sized, healthy, creative meals. They are packed in fun reusable containers which saves you money (no more plastic sandwich bags) and of course helps your green conscience.
With Bento , you are only limited by your imagination.
Rules of thumb to Bento
• Bento boxs are measured by their capacity in milliliters which when packed correctly corresponds into how many calories theoretically your box will hold - For example a 600ml box would hold a 600 calorie meal.
• Your lunch should be 3 parts grain, 2 parts fruits and veggies, 1 part protein and 0 part empty spaces.
• Bento lunches should be visually appealing and colorful. Think colors of the rainbow when packing your lunch (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
When you really want to get creative and make your Bentō lunches “pop” this is known as Kyaraben. It is a style of making your food look like people, animals, flowers, trees etc.
