save money and make your own laundry detergent
Making your own laundry detergent saves you A LOT of money.
A bottle of detergent from the store will run you $6.99 and up, and if your a good shopper that’s for 32 loads. That’s a little over 20 cents a load - not bad however, when you make your own laundry detergent its less than 2 cent’s a load! Talk about savings!
Laundry Detergent
1 bar of soap Fels Naptha, grated - (I get mine at Publix) however, you can use any bar of soap that you like - pure and natural, lever etc.
1 cup Arm & Hammer super washing soda laundry detergent booster (again, I get mine at Publix)
1/2 cup Borax (ha, guess where I get mine at)
Hot water
5 gallon bucket with lid
Optional: Essential oils for fragrance as well
1. Place grated soap in a pot, cover w/water and simmer over medium heat until all soap is melted, stirring constantly.
2. Pour into 5 gallon bucket
3. Add Washing Soda and Borax
4. Add enough hot water to fill the bucket, stir w/a long stick (I use an old broom handle)
5. Let sit overnight
In less than 10 minutes you’ve madeyour own laundry detergent!
Use one cup per load - You can leave the detergent in the 5 gallon bucket to use, however I created my own laundry detergent bottle by using a $1.99 tea pitcher from Target. -(Make sure to stir the bucket of laundry detergent each time you fill your pitcher.)

not to inundate you with comments today since I have commented on like three pages, but I have a question….do you know if this detergent works with for HE washers? our repairman told us that we needed to always use HE detergent and so I have been hesitant to make any. Thanks!
