My husband and I have been working on paying down our debt (who isn’t in this economy) and one way that we’ve been able to beat down that monster of a mountain is by being frugal with our shopping. I noticed that a lot of our discretionary money was going towards gifts (birthdays, holidays, just because etc.) and we really needed it to go towards paying off our bills.
I had to find another way to shop. I started paying attention everywhere, including the internet (the last wild frontier.) I admit I was scared. Could I find a bargain on the internet? Could I truly get a great deal? What about shipping - doesn’t it cost just as much if not more if you have to pay for shipping? I just wasn’t sure it was possible, and then as luck would have it, I found it a deal (like the one below.)
I was a ball of excited and nervous energy all rolled into one. Would I , could I, should I, dare I try, internet shopping? Yes! I jumped in and I’ve been swimming ever since.
A Few Tips to Keep You Organized and Shopper Savvy
1. If you sign up for a free 30 day reward program trial (like the one below,) it’s up to you to cancel if you decide the program is not for you and you don’t want to be charge - Keep a calendar handy and mark off a few days prior to 30 days to cancel and make sure to add your account number and their phone number to the calendar as well.
2. Thirty days are exactly 30 days - not from the 15th of one month until the 15th of the next month.
Step by Step Instructions For the Little Red Sewing Machine:
Go to Brylane Home (http://www.brylanehomes.com)
Click on the Clearance Tab.
On the left go to Bargains: $9.99 or less to find an item to purchase (I clicked on the Sunshine Stripped Tablecloth for $2.99 - they only have the napkins left)
Add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout (click on the little shopping buggy in the upper right hand corner)
Enter the code BHKCSEW and click apply (this code is in their catalog) - The sewing machine will show in your order with the price deducted.
Click Checkout, add your payment method etc.
Shipping will be $4.99.
Total for my first order was $7.98.
**After you hit submit a pop will come up for you to sign up for a free trial (reservation rewards) - sign up and you’ll recieve a $10 credit code towards your next Brylane Home purchase. Minimize the screen after you’ve copied out your code.
Remember to mark your calendar for a few days before your 30 day trial is over.
Go back to Brylane Home
I redid the exact same order from before - Napkins and Sewing Machine (however, feel free to get something else)
When going through checkout remember to add your reservation rewards code for $10.00 off in the Gift Card, Gift Certificate or Merchandise Credit section (next to where you added your credit card info previously)
Hit apply and it will automatically deduct $10.00 from your order
(It will take you through to resign up for Registration Rewards-just exit out of the window)
Total for my second order - $0.00
Log back into Reservation Rewards (or maximize the screen) and look for your Monthly $10 Bonus (this is different from the $10 Gift Certificate that you just used) located on the left hand side
Email a copy of your FIRST order to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (the one that shows you paid $7.98) - If after receiving your $10.00 check you decide the reward program isn’t for you make sure to call and cancel to avoid charges.
Update: Just received my check in the mail today 8-22-09!!
Total after my $10.00 rebate check for 2 compact sewing machines and 2 sets of napkins - Free plus $2.00 overage.
I so can’t wait to get home and order mine. Rebecca will LOVE her little red sewing machine…
