Billy had his surgery today, which made this a looong day. I don’t know why time seems to creep by when you are waiting in the hospital but it does. Add to that the fact that my baby is now 18 (which means I am now relegated to the “waiting” room or in this case his recovery room,) and considered an adult, which means the medical personnel look to him for answers and to sign paper work. He did so good, I on the other hand was a basket case. I was peppering questions to him as they were rolling him away on the gurney, since I wasn’t able to speak w/the doctor ahead of time. “Don’t forget to ask the doctor questions like, what are you doing, why, what are you hoping to find etc. etc?” Clearly you can see that I may have had a tad tough time letting go.
Of course, it took longer than anticipated (uggh) which meant that I was pacing the floor and being super nice to the nurses and quite possibly begging them to go look in on my baby and make sure he was doing o.k. - they were sweet and did.
While I walked the floor of his very small room waiting for him to come back I couldn’t help but think back to all of the other surgery’s he’s had in his life (starting at 6 mo of age.) He always came back grinning (must be the drugs haha) and sweeter than pie. This time was no different. Thank you God!
Now though comes the hard part - waiting for results.
